PICCADILLY CIRCUS; SNOHOMISH, WA By Rocky and Kristine Fields While walking downtown Snohomish, you get a feel for the old times. Antique stores line the bustling streets, quaint restaurants and pubs up and down Main street beckon for your business. But there is one that stands apart from the crowd. The Piccadilly Circus with it’s unique English flair grabs your attention as you waltz by and glance inside the windows. You’ll notice how clean and tidy the place is, and how classically decorated too. Not blaring with neon signs or cheap bar memorabilia, Piccadilly Circus is inviting with its calm, English demeanor. As you step inside, you’ll notice the aroma of home cooked food wafting from the kitchen tucked way in the back and realize that this is no ordinary place. Take a seat and enjoy the menu. We were enticed by several unusual dishes and had a really tough time picking out just two to optimize our dining experience. If you’ve never enjoyed English cuisine, this is the best place to try it out. From Bangors and Mash to the delectable, exotic dessert choices, you’ll be intrigued, as we were, just reading through this interesting selection of foods. I settled on the Pasties, which was similar to a Calzone but not with pizza stuffings by any means, that came with the most wonderful mashed potatoes and gravy I’ve had in a long time with a small side of veggies, and he decided to try the Halibut, also delectable. After the delicious dinner we had raspberry white chocolate cheese cake and a Harrogate Trifle that was exquisite. The karaoke, hosted by Mixmaster Ira, had begun and our tummies were full and happy. Friday nights are always fun at Piccadilly and if you enjoy karaoke, this would be a nice venture for you. The rotation was quick and the song selection was good too. We enjoyed the singers as we polished off our desserts and glanced through the designer drink menu. The bartender, Aaron, is a friendly fellow, ready and willing to mix up anything your little heart desires, from the simple to the exotic. With over 16 beers on tap and a ton of bottled and domestic beers, we’d be surprised if you didn’t discover a new favorite here. We did. The official greeter of Piccadilly Circus came in late in the evening, Lilly, the owners pooch, and gave everyone kisses and won the hearts of all the patrons. Under-aged singers are also welcomed here, which is a nice change from the regular bar scene. Some really great talent was in the house the evening we were there and it’s no wonder everyone had a super time. With all that goes on at Piccadilly Circus it’s just a fun place to be. Karaoke starts at 9pm and we would suggest you get your songs slips into the rotation as soon as you can. Piccadilly’s usually pretty hoppin’. On Saturday nights you can dance the night away to the disco sounds of the 70s, so come in and get your groove on. Every now and then Piccadilly features a live band, so check out their Web site and watch for those upcoming events. www.myspace.com/piccadillycircuspubwa. Make a special trip and feel like you’re far from home, but with all of your friends! Piccadilly Circus may just become your new favorite hangout. Be sure to ask about the specialty drink menu as well, we fell in love with sinful seduction, but also had our eye on the Greyt Hound and the Piccadilly Princess. | ||||||||||||
