Formerly the Moonraker Bar and Grille, the Ad-Lib is hosting a monthly karaoke contest called the Ad-Lib Idol-oke, awarding their top three singers with serious cash and prizes. $250 in total was given away on Saturday, June 28th when they wrapped up their June karaoke contest.

A handful of invited guests were welcomed onto the stage in order to compete in the finals. They had earned their spot in the rotation that night as Mr. Delirious, Ad-Lib’s karaoke host and DJ, had qualified them in the weeks prior to the finals.

Judged completely by audience response, Mr. Delirious announced the order of winners after they got up and performed for a tailor-made crowd.

In third place, it was Robert with his Careless Whisper selection. Then it was down to two. Brothers in fact, Lunder and Lawrence, who each put up an impressive showing during the competition. In the end, the audience voted Lunder to second place and Lawrence to 1st Place and he came away $250 richer. Way to go guys!

Mr. Delirious hosts a great show, full of big sound, dancing and his specialty; music videos set to every song. It’s easy to just sit back relax and enjoy the videos while the singers do their thing. The sound booth is state of the art as is the equipment. Mr. Delirious has his music sounding as great as can be and his years of experience will have you sounding your best too.

If you haven’t seen the inside of the Ad-Lib, you really need to get in there and check it out. The place is humongous. Big bar with all your favorite cocktails, something like thirty or forty beers on tap and super friendly bartenders always willing to chat. They’ve got a massive dance floor, several pool tables, video games and four dart boards with three more on the way.

The Ad-Lib goes way back, for those of you who are relatively new to the scene. It was only called the Moonraker for the last seven or eight years, but before that it was well-known as the Ad-Lib and had a great reputation among partygoers everywhere. Always under a single families ownership, the son recently took over the family bar and has high hopes of restoring its public image to the way it was in its hey days. Tim’s off to a good start too, making important decisions pertaining to the bar that are sure to ensure future growth and prosperity.

Stop in on any night of the week for darts, pool, great food and drinks and now, reminiscent of the old days, the Ad-Lib is featuring an exciting lineup of live bands every Friday and Saturday night.

Come in early and “Beat the cover”, settle in and enjoy the music!
