DAVERTHUMPS PUB & GALLEY; LYNNWOOD, WA
Daverthump’s in high gear

By Rocky and Kristine Fields

While out and about on a Sunday evening, we decided to stop into Daverthump’s Pub in Lynnwood and see how things were going. As usual, things were going strong. Host, Monique, runs a fun show for the lovely and talented Miss Carla, also known as “The Goddess” in the karaoke realm.

Daverthump’s offers karaoke four nights a week; Wednesdays through Sundays, and we’ve always had a good time here. On Sundays you can come play pool for free from opening until 9pm and once karaoke starts, the place really gets fun.

Rockband is now available for extra added good times during some of the karaoke shows. Ask your host for all the details! We enjoyed the singers when we popped in. Monique opened the show with a beautiful rendition of “Alone” by Heart. Then we watched a really cool new music video on the big screen while the next singer prepped himself for his big debut. Joe and his buddy got up and sang “International Harvester” and dueled it out taking turns with who would sing what part and trying to harmonize throughout the song. It was, well let’s say, entertaining to say the least. Later, he and his other friend, Long, did a really great version of “Surrender” and used the Rockband guitar as a prop, though we don’t recommend doing this unless you’re actually playing the game. Monique was a good sport about it and kept a close watch on the guitar, making sure it didn’t get dropped or broken. Shawn sang next, and did a great job of singing “Machine World” - kind of a headbanger song, a nice break from the standard karaoke tune. Duffy and Carla did a cool duet of one of Duffy’s best songs, “On A Good Night” and Carla really put the harmony into it. Nice twist!

There are five pool tables available at Daverthump’s, along with darts and a bunch of cool video games. We especially love the driving game on which you compete against your friends.

The staff here is friendly, and we received excellent service from the cook, the waitress, and even the bouncer. Everyone here is definitely people-friendly, which makes the visit that much more enjoyable.

The sound system that Carla has in Daverthump’s makes the singers sound awesome, which in that room, for most hosts, would be a challenge. It’s set up just right and you can see the words from anywhere in the room, the large screen behind the stage makes it fun for everyone to sing and/or follow along with the words.

Check out their ad in this month’s Karaoke Guide for more information on Daverthump’s. They’ve always got something fun going on here and karaoke is no exception! Aim your car toward Lynnwood for some good times and make sure you let them know how much you appreciate getting to watch current music videos and hear a great sound system.
