Grand Opening at The Annex

Just a couple months ago, The Annex Tavern on Tukwila’s East Marginal Way South (across from the Boeing Flight Museum) was transferred into the ownership of the lovely Barbara Chase.

In mid-May, Barbara and her gang, including karaoke host John, and her boyfriend Jason, who was celebrating his birthday, gathered together at the Annex for a rip-roaring Grand Opening party. Barbara laid out a full table of pastas, chicken, ribs and salads in appreciation of her faithful customers and to mark the occasion.

The Annex was jam-packed with people singing, playing pool, drinkin’, eatin’ and just having a grand ol’ time. Liz is a great supporter of Barbara and her new location. She was on hand to assist in the festivities, encouraging singers and directing the event. Barbara said she may be taking over a night or two of karaoke hosting herself eventually. Liz got up and kicked things off in a duet with Kai, “the famous bartender”.

Host John features a tried and true karaoke system on loan from Kittel’s, an original Seattle karaoke hot spot. Soon, they will be installing a new system of their own, so if anybody out there has a good karaoke system for sale, call Barbara at the Annex right away!

The Annex boasts a large collection of Old School R&B and classic songs from days gone by – a refreshing treat for karaoke enthusiasts everywhere.

Susanne, a longtime friend of Barbara’s, came out with some of her amazing desserts for everybody to enjoy and she brought her friends Keri and Matt with her too.

The excitement in the room was undeniable as folks milled around in standing-room only, shoulder to shoulder celebration. Three bartenders were on staff attending to everyone’s needs, so no one had to wait for their beverages.

Parking is at a minimum due to the fact that the tavern is nestled between two converging roads, but there’s some additional parking across East Marginal Way. They’ve packed a ton of fun into this little place; pool, pulltabs, darts, karaoke and a big ol’ wrap-around bar. They’ve got a full kitchen that pump out some great chicken wings and feature a full menu.

Barbara has already installed brand new carpeting throughout, along with new seat covers and has refinished all the booths in a multi-colorful motif, much like her preference of fingernail polish. The atmosphere is loose, fun and friendly and you are invited to come check it out anytime. Come out for their “No wait” karaoke every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm to 1:30am, where you can sing all night long, as much as you want. Say hello to Barbara and her friends - welcome them to the community and ask about Barbara’s vision for her very first bar venture. She’s got a colorful background with many stories to tell.
