CHIHUAHUA’S MEXICAN; AUBURN, WA By Sue Sawyer Chihuahua’s Mexican Cantina will host a series of Friday night karaoke contests. Qualify every Friday for the finals to be held on the last Friday of the month when they will host a $100 category showdown. $25 gift certificates for food and drinks will be presented to each winner, each week leading up to the finals. The famous Mexican cantina on Auburn Way North reignited their karaoke in May, bringing in K&M Karaoke (253-205-9856) for Friday night fun in their large bar which has plenty of room for music, dancing and tables to enjoy their delicious food. Michael Bounds, who owns K&M with his wife Karen, have a specially designed roll-in system stacked with multi-players that can be set up quickly and accepts all different kinds of media. Singers are encouraged to bring their favorite track arrangements on CD+Gs, DVDs or whatever, besides choosing music from K&M’s large catalog of music which includes almost 3,000 Spanish titles. Michael is known as “Mr. Mom” to friends and family, as the primary caregiver to his one-year old daughter. Karen is employed by the Federal Way School district where she is involved with their many music programs. Although Karen (who sometimes subs for hubby) has always been involved with music, it was Michael who found himself holding the mic in utter disbelief as a very pregnant hostess at a club he was singing karaoke at suddenly ran off the stage heading to a hospital as fast as possible to have her baby. He finished the evening winging it as host and later started subbing for different hosts and DJs before purchasing his own karaoke business recently. Michael is a talented singer with a warm personality, natural people-patience and high tech skills for working his sound and music - a well-rounded combination for a solid Friday night karaoke experience. Saturday nights Chihuahua’s feature live music. A huge movie screen hangs above the stage insuring that everyone in the room can see the words or music videos. Smaller TVs are also around the room which feature karaoke along with a personal singing monitor. The back of the bar’s TV carries sports but it’s only noticeable to those actually sitting at the bar. There’s plenty of room for dancing, pool or darts while waiting your turn in the rotation. For liquid courage, they serve up the best margaritas in town! Karaoke starts at 9pm and there’s plenty of parking all around the establishment. Come in, enjoy some amazing Mexican food and sign up to compete in their karaoke contest. You may just get your dinner paid for and more! | |||||
