THE WALL BAR & GRILL; SEATTLE, WA
Karaoke hits The Wall

By Ty Hughes

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are really hoppin’ at the all-new Wall Bar & Grill on 16th Avenue SW in downtown White Center. Karaoke with Turi is the name of the game here and her faithful singers would love to see you in the rotation.

Turi’s got a long history of hosting karaoke in the area and brings her experience to the Wall three nights a week for all to enjoy. She does a mean Stevie Nicks to kick off her show and then relies on her diverse variety of singers to do the rest. There is virtually no wait time for those of you who like to get in lots of singing.

The Wall, formerly The Moon Sportsbar, has just gone through an ownership change and the new focus on quality is undeniable when you walk into the bar. They’ve got a bar-in-the-round set up right as you walk through the front doors, offering patrons the opportunity to sidle up to the bar on both sides. The service is outstanding and the food is even better. Two servers work hard for their customers, canvassing the room, taking and fulfilling orders with a smile. Their newly revamped menu features a creative selection of salads, sandwiches and entrée items served until midnight that will have your mouth watering.

Flat screen TVs at either end of the bar, set up high for easy viewing, show sports and while the karaoke is underway, one screen provides a view of the karaoke stage around the corner with lyrics and everything! Pretty neat idea for sure.

The elevated stage, which is at the rear of the “L” shaped bar, provides a nice acoustic treat for everybody in the bar, whether playing pool on their two tables, or just hanging out with good friends. Blacklights and old vinyl records adorn the fully carpeted staging area. Everyone is friendly and inviting and Turi’s karaoke following spans generations. She takes extra care in mixing her singers to sound incredible and takes great pride in her crystal clear sound system. Pro DJ/Dance lighting has been installed above the stage and dance floor to liven things up nicely.

After Turi’s moving rendition of a Stevie Nicks classic, Daphine followed up with her own Fleetwood Mac performance before Jon took a seat on stage and sang “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” The beer, cocktails and food flowed as Heidi sang “Now Or Never”, an obscure yodeling selection enjoyed by the entire room. Shamane, a regular at the bar, did one of my personal favorites; Elvis Presley’s “Only Make Believe”, followed by Stacy and Dustin’s “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” duet.

Turi is a gracious and caring host and is happy to go above and beyond to make sure your karaoke experience at the Wall Bar & Grill is pleasant and memorable. She has dubbed Tuesdays as Country Karaoke night at the Wall and welcomes all you country music fans to come out and join in the fray. Throw on those boots and belt buckles and come out for some country karaoke fun.

Turi’s show runs every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9pm to close. The new owners bring in live music a couple times every month – see their ad for dates and details. Also, they provide DJ music every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday starting at 9pm. There’s something going on every night of the week at the Wall and there is never a cover charge so grab your friends and drag them out to the all-new Wall Bar & Grill for a great dinner, some singing and dancing.

The Wall at 9801 16th Ave SW in White Center (206) 658-1378 is open seven days a week from 12pm to 2am.
