ALOHA BAR & CAFE; SEDRO WOOLLEY, WA By Rocky & Kristine Fields If you enjoy the taste of the islands, head out to Sedro Woolley and into the Aloha Bar and Cafe. Situated in the heart of this northwest Washington destination point, Aloha provides a taste of the tropics to this quaint little town. You don’t have to do the hula, but you can come in and sing the night away three nights a week. Karaoke rocks at Aloha Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with host and bar manager, Rick C. They’re working on updating and upgrading the bar menu that already offers great burgers and fries, potstickers and eggrolls, along with super tasty drinks. You can also order up some yummy Jell-O shots for only $1.00 each and well worth the price, if you ask us. The bar staff, featuring Kaylee the singing bartender, also loves to sing karaoke and it’s worth the trip alone just to hear her belt out an Evanescense song! She’s incredible, honestly. Rick loves to sing too, but he says to let you all know that there’s plenty of room for you and your friends here and with this being a reasonably new venue, it’s not that packed… YET! You can tell the regulars enjoy the atmosphere and are proud to make Aloha their home bar. We really enjoyed the candles and the lighting is nice and calming, with flame-style lamps and Hawaiian gear placed strategically around the interior. Rick’s system also boasts a four cordless microphone set up so if you’re wanting to try out that four part harmony, this is the place to do it. The song selection’s huge as well, you will most likely find almost any song you’d want to sing at Aloha. We witnessed a brand new karaoke singer on the evening we visited. Matt, a true karaoke virgin, belted out “A Man of Constant Sorrow” for us, and had some great dance moves to go along with it. He decided it was actually fun and sang another song after that. It was definitely entertaining. Big Ron was there too. He’s got Toby Keith down pat and it was a pleasure, as always, to get to hear him sing a few. Head out to Sedro Woolley, get your taste of the tropics and enjoy belting out some karaoke tunes while you’re at it. You can also come for open mic on Wednesdays and Fridays or dance the night away to your favorite Hip Hop tunes on Saturday nights. You’ll find Aloha at 214 Ferry Street in downtown Sedro Woolley (360) 855-0800. | ||||||||
