Welcome to the Northwest Karaoke Guide

Q’S SPORTSBAR; GRAHAM, WA
Huge happenings at Q’s

By Ty Hughes

Every Sunday through Thursday night at Q’s in Graham features Bo Daniels crankin’ out the hits from his elevated stage surrounded by a gargantuan dance floor. Actually, he just provides the music, it’s his faithful karaoke enthusiastic crowd that cranks out the hits.

Bo operates a full Mackie system from his laptop computer, featuring a healthy collection of song choices five nights a week. A bevy of Peavey speakers are primarily situated in the rafters around the dance floor, so you’ve got to stay in close to understand Bo’s big disc-jockey persona as he announces the singers and upcoming events at Q’s. And these events are non-stop including, but not limited to, a Hairy Man Contest on Mondays which Teresa the Manager says is a huge hit with the locals – she doesn’t know why exactly. Plus, they’ve got a karaoke contest on Mondays, pool tourneys on Sundays and Thursdays, Wet T-shirt contests, Free Bingo from 5-7pm on Tuesdays, plus a Tattoo Contest on Tuesdays as well.

Live bands rock the house at Q’s every weekend and they book some of the area’s top talent, including the likes of Just Dirt and X35, both favorites ‘round these here parts.

This family owned nightclub and restaurant is gigantic with two floors separated by a flight of stairs and offers a full view of each. The restaurant upstairs is really more of a loft and closes down at 10pm nightly, while the downstairs seems to be where most of the action is after hours for the 21 and over crowd. Pool, pulltabs, video gaming and karaoke, dancing and live music create quite a draw for the weekend party crowd.

The menu reflects the Hawaiian ownership with items like the Aloha Combo appetizer plate for $14.50, or the Poki (raw tuna), plus they’ve got Chinese BBQ, Lumpia, Seafood Fettuccini, Steak and Prawns, Ribs and Pot Roast. Breakfast is served in full every day until 5pm and Happy Hour runs daily from 3pm-7pm featuring $2.25 wells and pounders. But order a beer or a cocktail in the bar, because the coffee is $3.50 a cup or two bucks if you want refills.

Host Bo Daniels loves what he does and it shows. His commitment to making the singers sound their best is evident in his tenacity at the controls. Though the sound is a bit garbled toward the back of the room, the pool players seem to prefer it that way as they’re immersed in a sport of their own. The interior is so large that it would take a team of sound engineers to fill the entire bar with the clear sound of the person on the microphone, or possibly a live band.

Brad, with his gorgeous blonde date, got up to sing a few times and appreciated the opportunity to belt one out. Kym gutted out a poignant Keith Whitley classic before Christina sang Broken Wing to a seemingly indifferent crowd. Though it was slow on this Wednesday night, I was assured that business is typically bustling, especially on weekends here.

Take a night and venture out to the far reaches of beautiful Graham, Washington and take in the karaoke show Sunday through Thursday or check out their many weekly events anytime during the week and weekends. Say “Hi” to Bo and the gang. Tell them you saw them in the Karaoke Guide!
