Northwest
Music Source March 2008 Daryl and The Peacemakers Daryl has been playing the guitar and writing songs from very early on. After a few years as a music major in the southern California college system and moonlighting as the music coordinator for the southern department at a very large house of worship, Daryl got married, went to work and forgot all about his music. Some years later, Daryl realized it was now or never. He quit his job, cashed out the 401K and moved to the Northwest to record an album. Currently, he is nearing the end of a three-year project; “A Wayward Soul” should be available in late summer 2008. Daryl collaborates with a fine group of musicians who play with him on and off throughout the year. For the upcoming album, the accompanying musicians are: Sean Dugaw on drums; Dale Groff on bass and lead guitar; Rick Holt on rhythm and lead guitar; Kara Dugaw on backup vocals; Gary Keiski on fiddle; Harvey Redmond on tenor sax; Scott Reese on harmonica. Neal Harris also recorded some awesome guitar tracks for this project, but they were way to cool for us to use, so we’re saving them!
Endless Grey Endless Grey was formed in the autumn of 2004. What started as a solo project by singer/songwriter Darin Wrigley, grew into a band of five members who shared similar musical interests. Bands such as Charon, Depeche Mode, Entwine and H.I.M. have all influenced the sound and style of Endless Grey - giving them a unique sound that stands out among the masses in the Seattle rock scene. In the two plus years Endless Grey has been together, they have accomplished quite a lot. They have performed in venues such as Studio Seven, El Corazon and Pioneer Square’s Central Saloon. The band caught the attention of musician/producer Len Hotrum, of Point One. This lead to the band opening a huge concert event put on by Point One and KISW 99.9 FM called Headbanger’s Holiday, which nearly 600 people attended. Also frontman, Darin Wrigley, was interviewed on air for KISW’s “Loud and Local Show.” Endless Grey’s early recordings have been featured regularly on “Loud and Local” ever since. Endless Grey has developed a strong presence on the internet by utilizing the networking tools of Myspace.com. The band’s “friend list” has grown to over 13,000, and some dedicated fans have even gone so far as to submit pictures they’ve drawn of Endless Grey members. Currently, Endless Grey is preparing to release a new full-length album to be called “The Addition of Strangeness to Beauty.” The tracks take the best elements of European metal and gothic rock, and mix in swirling atmospheric keyboard sounds, reminiscent of 80’s synth-pop. Featured on the album is a cover of Depeche Mode’s moody “Policy of Truth” - which has been highly popular and well received by the band’s Seattle fan base. Producer Len Hotrum pulled amazing performances from Endless Grey for this album, which will no doubt rock the masses when it is released in the summer.
February 2008 Submitted by Diane Kennedy, Kennedys Marketing & More www.wpkennedys.com Numbered Days Numbered Days began in 2003 in Longview, WA with Bryan and Greg in a chance meeting at a local church. Within months, the two penned over a dozen songs and embarked on a search for additional members. Although it would be another year until the final lineup was assembled, the ever-evolving Numbered Days played frequent shows to develop their musicianship while gaining valuable experience and a fan base. Today, the songs have become undeniably catchy as each member brings their unique sound to the writing table. The recipe is relatively straightforward but offers an exciting new flavor to booking agents and fans alike. It all starts by mixing Greg’s classical and jazz guitar training and wide range of interests with the rock background from Bryan. Adding a healthy dose of Chris and Drew’s love of punk, metal and progressive rock finishes it off. The result is Numbered Days; a group that is getting booked with every type of band on the market. The fan base ranges wide and new music continues to showcase a bit of each member involved. Fans keep coming back to hear the music’s melodic kamikaze feel and diversity that can be played virtually anywhere. Several Numbered Days songs have been described as two completely different styles for the same original work. Although some may feel confused by this, there is nothing confusing about the repeated popularity of Numbered Days at many different venues. Perhaps they are just doing what they love. “Numbered Days’ introspective and often-surprising melodic twists seem to add up for fans. Another aspect that hooks audiences are the band’s instrumental styles, which can change from dreamy, jangly guitar, to heavy metal.” – Tom Paulu, The Daily News (Lee Publications) “Longview’s latest export, Numbered Days, plays straight ahead original rock.” – Angela Jossy, The Weekly Volcano (Swarner Communications) “This show isn’t about my personal taste, it’s about playing great bands from the Northwest. If it’s good, it’s good.” – Lisa Wood, DJ from Portland’s KUFO 101.1 FM discussing the selection process for KUFO’s local artist show, of which Numbered Days has gained rotation (from Portland Mercury, Index Publications). “The innovative and progressive music, along with the lyrics, make you stop and take notice. Keep a watch and listen for Numbered Days.” – KR Laurent on the Band, Positively Entertainment Volume 31 - Number 8; August 28, 2007 (Crooked Arrow Publishing). “Under the Umbilical Tree, a story of love found and lost, expresses transcendent feelings of freedom with the trappings of the world; the music creates a life of its own.” – KR Laurent on the Album, Positively Entertainment Volume 31 - Number 8; August 28, 2007 (Crooked Arrow Publishing). “The band rocked the house. Like a polished stone, Numbered Days performed with all the qualities of a big name touring band.” – KR Laurent on the Show, Positively Entertainment Volume 31 - Number 8; August 28, 2007 (Crooked Arrow Publishing). “Rockers, here’s a reason to get excited! Numbered Days is nothing short of phenomenal… this band [has] the professional sound that should gather them significant radio and media attention!” – Xavier P and Radioindy.com, RadioINDY; October 12, 2007 (MikVacch Enterprises, LLC).
January 2008 Outtasite The Junction will be hosting fundraisers every other weekend, to help out needy folks within their community. At the end of all this and when weather permits, local Northwest boys, Outtasite will be hosting an outdoor concert. Outtasite actually debuted in 1996 on the Sir Mix-A-Lot track “Fonk4da B.L.V.D. alongside fellow members of his group “The Elite”. Several years later in 1999-’00, Outtasite gained local attention for being the only unknown member of an otherwise supergroup of famous seattlelites, “SubSet”. After that short-lived yet door opening experience, Outtasite began working on solo material. In 2004 a sample of his self-decribed hybrid noise landed on “Project Gothem 2” (x-box)) via the track titled “High Powered” In 2004, Outtasite joined “The Presidents of the United States of America” front man Cris Ballew to form a new duo called “The Feelings Hijackers” or T.F.H for short. After releasing their self-titled debut in 2005 to a super-positive response, the abstract duo began work on T.F.H. Vol. 2, Skeletal Remains, released in 2007. Outtasite is currently recording songs for a new CD, “Careful what you wish for”, due out in 2008. And the beat go’s on.
December 2007 Submitted by Diane Kennedy, Kennedys Marketing & More www.wpkennedys.com Brightwood We’ve all felt it. That fleeting moment so fiercely alive, yet unexplainably surreal. That defining instant of clarity, powerful enough to suspend time. That crushing awareness rendering us motionless and quiet. It is in these moments that we are perpetually inspired.” - Anonymous The music of Portland’s enigmatic alt/rock phenomenon, Brightwood, boasts as a product of this kind of inspiration. Their 2006 EP titled The Love Antidote, explores the risks of falling in love and the dichotomy that ensues. Featuring songs that swim with youthful euphoria coupled with those that deal with the enormous pain of heartbreak, The Love Antidote struck a chord with thousands of music lovers around the world. Even before its release, Brightwood’s self-produced EP had begun generating a buzz on a national scale. Inevitably, a multi-state tour followed in support of the record, drawing hundreds of fans from across the western US as well as aiding in the band’s already explosive online presence. “The overwhelmingly positive response to our music last year, both from fans and industry people was unexpected and truly encouraging,” replied frontman Andrew Brittell when asked in a 2007 interview about the attention Brightwood was receiving. “What started as a meager DIY attempt to record a demo EP became what we consider to be a genuine phenomenon.” Among the many accomplishments in 2006 was Brightwood’s being chosen out of eleven thousand bands for a spot on Ernie Ball’s Battle of the Bands 10 Compilation CD, which also landed them a spot on the nationally renowned Warped Tour. They were featured on several popular music webzines including Absolute Punk, The Daily Chorus, and Driven Far Off. Sharing the stage with reputable acts such as Mute Math, Waking Ashland, and Goodbye Tomorrow, Brightwood was well on their way to becoming a household name. Within a year of The Love Antidote’s release, Brightwood had sold approximately two thousand hard copies of the EP, and ten thousand digital downloads from Itunes. They had reached over a million plays on myspace and had maintained the one position for unsigned bands in Oregon, as well as a position in myspace’s top 100 bands. Despite several label opportunities, Brightwood has decided to release their next album on their own. “At this point, we’re just trying to make music that inspires us. I think part of the reason we’ve been so passive when it comes to label attention is because we’re still trying to figure out what we want…both in music, and in life,” says Brittell. “Our biggest fear I guess is that we would be pigeon-holed into making a specific kind of music, and we feel that we have some growing to do before we’re comfortable unveiling ourselves to the world so-to-speak, but I think we’re getting close.” This mentality is what has compelled Brightwood to take a do-it-yourself style approach with their music. Utilizing their own studio, which has allegedly been upgraded since The Love Antidote, the band is currently finishing up their debut LP, Wake. To be released in early 2008, Brightwood’s first full-length record will be eagerly received by their devoted fans, and will undoubtedly be a profound reflection of this foursome’s hard work and unyielding passion. So far the future for this young band appears to be limitless. Having proven that they can independently and successfully create music with the innate ability to move people, Brightwood is quickly becoming a self-achieved sensation.

Perry Sanders - Harmonica/Vocals Born in Olympia , WA , Perry has been playing music since he was 10. In 1989, Perry started schlepping gear for “Sweatband”, a group led by Dennis Hastings, anchored by the guitar of Dave Broyles and the saxophone of Steve Munger. Mostly hauling gear, but occasionally sitting in, Perry went to school on Dennis' soulful vocals and horn inspired harp playing. After playing jam sessions with some of the northwest's top blues players, Perry met up with Tom “T-Boy Neil” Boyle in 1997. In 1998, they formed “The Steamers”, and along with Freddie “Cleanhead” Kellog on bass and Richard “Smoke” Winfield on drums, they played goodtime, party blues throughout the Pacific Northwest . In 2000, Perry co-founded “The Blues Attitude” with Jerry “J.B.” Bentley, T-Bone Williams and Smoke Winfield. Perry has been playing music on the Eastside since 2003. Usually billed as “The Cellarmen”, Perry featured Northwest greats such as Karl Thuman, Brian Feist, Mike Coucoules, K.T. Tuttle, Conrad Ormsby and Keith Anderson. Then, in January 2006, he met up with Oakland guitar player Lance “Blue Lindy” Lindgren. After a couple of pretty hot jam sessions, Lance and Perry put together a group that includes Gordon Benson on sax and vocals, Detroit's own Bruce Koenigsberg on bass and drummer Keith White from Cleveland. Merging styles from Detroit , Middle America and the West Coast, The Fabulous Roof Shakers is a high energy dance band that can shake the roof.
Lance “Blue Lindy” Lindgren Guitar/Vocals Lance started playing in clubs throughout San Francisco back in 1992 with the band “Back In Blue” and later “The Crab Daddy's” who often played the one time blues hotspot, “Blues” on Lombard . Lance later moved south and joined the rockin' blues party band “The Fabulous Boozedogs” in Long Beach , who played everything from dives, juke joints, festivals and even classy joints like the Roxbury in Hollywood . After a short stint in Alaska playing with “The Vindicators”, Lance later returned to the Bay Area and put together the blues powerhouse, “Wall Of Blues”, who developed a reputation throughout the San Francisco and Oakland music scenes for their high-energy “wall of sound”. A recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest , Lance decided to bring his big rockin' style of music to the masses by putting together a tight, high-energy dance band. This eventually became the catalyst for forming The Fabulous Roof Shakers.
Gordon Benson Baritone & Tenor Sax/Vocals Gordon is one of those rare people who was actually born and raised in the Seattle area. His musical roots were formed in the Seattle rain and gloom, so blues is his most natural form for musical expression. He started playing the sax in grade school and continued to study and practice the instrument through high school and college. College also gave opportunity for studying music theory, playing in various jazz and rock bands and learning guitar and bass. Since that time, he has been wailing on the sax in various Northwest bands, including Back Room, Mad Hatter, Blue Field, and most recently, I - 5 South. He may occasionally pull out the soprano, alto and baritone saxophones, but the gritty, raw sound of the tenor saxophone is the sound that he finds really expresses the soul and emotion of the songs he plays.
Bruce Koenigsberg - Bass Bruce, of Issaquah , WA , formerly from Detroit , the home of the Motown Sound, is one of Seattle 's premier bass players. Bruce was formerly with The Cadillac Jack Review and is a current member of The Jam Dawgs who host and appear at local music jams in the Seattle area. Bruce is also a sought after contract musician for other Seattle Bands as well as out-of-town players looking for an in-the-pocket bass player. Bruce has played for The Big Moe Review from Chicago, The Tim Turner Band and The Charles White Band to name a few. Bruce is also a member of The Washington Blues Society. You might have seen him performing around town at some local jams or sitting in with other R&B and rock bands, as he likes to get out and play music and entertain people as much as he can.
Keith White - Percussion New to the Seattle area, Keith is a veteran of the Cleveland , Ohio R&B music scene playing with harp master, Dave Morrison, in Aces and Eights. Keith also freelanced with such Cleveland area groups as Sweet Willy and the Solid Cats, Tommy Shaper and the Mature Individuals, Wallace Coleman, and Robert Lockwood, Jr. Keith is happiest when deep in the groove of a high energy tune that fills up the dance floor. Keith is a welcome addition to the Seattle music scene.
August 2007 Seattle Tribute Bands Blind Floyd Pink Floyd tribute band Blind Floyd was the brainchild of lead guitarist, David Heffner. During April 2005, David and Alan Madderra were both working for a Bainbridge Island merchant when David suggested starting a Pink Floyd tribute band. Knowing how talented David was, Alan jumped at the opportunity. “We can do that”, said Alan, “and I know the other players we need.” That was the birth of Blind Floyd. From the very first rehearsal, we knew we had something very special. With David's soaring yet heartfelt guitar licks that transcend time, Van Bergen's complex and intricate keyboard and synth work, Bill Ehrhardt's relentless pursuit of authenticity on the drums and the natural ability of Alan Madderra to play bass and imitate the vocals of Pink Floyd, we had a winning combination. After much searching, the addition of Robin Filler brought a sense of style and class to the lineup. Blind Floyd's debut performance was Ruby Rocks 16th annual music festival in June of 2005 to rave reviews. Denny Richardson, founder and host of Ruby, was quoted as saying “Blind Floyd is the best thing to ever hit the stage in the 16 years of Ruby.” Since then, Ruby BF has played numerous shows in the Kitsap and Seattle area. www.myspace.com/blindfloyd

July 2007 ~ Meet KG3 ~ Lloyd Poole - Drums, Vocals A globetrotting industry veteran and West Coast native, Lloyd's list of musical associates reads like a who's who of the rock world. He has toured with the best of the best, including #1 hit maker Sugarloaf (“Green Eyed Lady”, “Don't Call Us, We'll Call You”). During a rich and storied full time on-the-road music career, Lloyd has shared the stage with the likes of Heart, Aerosmith, Van Morrison, the Youngbloods, Tower of Power and many others, and he has also worked with former and/or current members of The Doobie Brothers, Steppenwolf, Journey, Santana, Ozzy Ozbourne, Night Ranger and many other luminaries of the rock pantheon. When Lloyd takes to the stage, he amazes all with his impeccable timekeeping, masterful riffing and no-holds-barred solos. His drumming style is often compared favorably to John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, but Lloyd leaves no doubt that he is in a class by himself. Tom Mullin - Lead Guitar, Vocals A transplant to the Pacific Northwest in 2003 from America's heartland, Tom has performed and toured extensively both part-time and full-time over the past several decades. In 2001-2002 Tom toured the upper Midwest with award-winning songwriter and keyboard phenomenon Dennis Provisor, originally with L.A. chart-toppers The Grass Roots. In the late ‘60's, as a teenager Tom worked with John “JR” Robinson, then a child prodigy, now the world's most recorded drummer, a Grammy winner in 1983 with Chaka Khan and Rufus, and touring drummer for Barbra Streisand since 1993. Tom's unique guitar style draws from influences by Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Edward Van Halen, David Gilmour and a host of other guitar greats. His musical sensibilities have been broadened and enriched by performing in many different genres including acoustic folk-rock, bluegrass/newgrass, traditional and Chicago-style blues, country, jazz and large ensemble horn-driven ‘show' bands. You won't soon forget an evening with KG3 and Tom Mullin. Mike Keesal - Bass Guitar, Vocals Mike, formerly of Stainless and Suncrusher, is the newest addition to KG3. He is an exceptional talent, brings many years of pro experience and instantly electrified the band's sound. December 2006 Fused The original band was borne September 2004 in Seattle by Xavier on guitar and Jason Stilley on drums. They were both looking to form a hard rock/stoner band like the 70s bands (Sabbath, Zeppelin, AC/DC) and 90s stoner rock bands (Kyuss, Fu Manchu, C.O.C.). After a few months of jamming together, putting some tunes down, Tim joined the duo in February 2005. Jason quit the band in May 2005 due to personal problems. Mitch Montes came on to replace Jason on drums in July 2005. The old name was changed and FUSED was borne. The band had been revived to be stronger and louder than before. In August 2005, they decided to go to the studio for the first time ever and their first EP was formulated. In October 2005, Curran answered an ad for a guitar player and landed his place in the band. Mitch quit the band in November 2005 due to unknown reasons and David showed up in January 2006 getting the band back on track at last. After a summer of tightening things up as a live band during their summer gigs, they went back to the studio and started recording their second CD with only original material from July to October 2006 and their album "King of the desert" was recorded. The history of the band is still being written. Check out the band's websites:

October 2006 Candlebox Remember Candlebox? The nineties' Seattle band burst onto the scene in 1993, hitting the Top Ten with their self-titled debut, then rode the grunge wave with a string of hit singles - Far Behind, Don't You, Simple Lessons - before seemingly falling off the radar altogether. So what happened? “I've been producing. I have a solo project called the Hiwatts on my own label; started that in 2000,” frontman Kevin Martin says of what's been keeping him busy since Candlebox went on “indefinite hiatus” in 1999. “And I got married last year.” Getting married is an important part of the story, as Martin credits his wife with helping to reunite the group. “I met my wife five years ago. She's an Australian, very grounded,” he explains. “And she made me realize I was longing to play with these guys again, because I was continually talking about it.” That, and an upcoming best-of collection due next month, prompted Martin to get the ball rolling to bring guitarist Pete Klett, drummer Scott Mercado and bassist Bardi Martin (no relation to Kevin) back together. “I contacted Pete in the fall,” he says. “We got together over Christmas when I was in Seattle to visit my family. We contacted Bardi and Scott and asked if they'd be interested.” The reformed Candlebox hit the road on July 1 for a full-fledged tour with a few one-offs scheduled before then. The band isn't reuniting to be merely a nostalgia act, though; they've got plans to record an album in the fall for spring 2007 release. Martin, who admires the political stances of artists such as Green Day, Neil Young and System of a Down, wants to use his new music to speak out on the issues as well. “There hasn't been a great musical movement since the early nineties, and hopefully that changes,” he says. Martin points to one of Candlebox's new songs, tentatively dubbed “Stand”. “It's not a new concept; it deals with exactly what we've been talking about; stand up for who you are,” he explains. “People want great music, and if you can give them great music that has a point and is poignant, I think you can change people's opinions”. Since so much has changed in the decade since Candlebox was on top - not the least of which, the political climate - how does Martin think the band will be received? “The response to our deciding to go back out and make another record has been great,” he says. “It's weird – you think when you end something, it's done. But you continue to sell records and people continue to write you and the music never dies.” Then, in another sign of the changed times, Martin adds, “We're adding MySpace friends every day.”

The Heaters
It's November of 1978, and three long-time friends (Ken Deans, Keith Lilly and Steve Pearson) have decided to ‘do a band'. Thinking it would be pretty cool to have a second guitar player, Pearson introduces Don Short. All four hail from Seattle 's eastside, holding rehearsals in a freezing Kenmore basement. By spring of '79, this foursome is known as The Heaters. Bursting into the local club scene, the group quickly becomes a favorite in the Seattle area with their danceable, original songs. It seems a week doesn't go by without press coverage, fan followings, and more and more prestigious gigs. They are paid top-dollar, audiences LOVE them, and critics predict them to be the next big thing. They legally change their name to The Heats, due to a band in the California area which had already released an album under The Heaters. Managed by Albatross Productions, the guys are sent out on the road to open for The Knack and Heart. While opening for Heart, they earn the honor of being the first rock band to perform at Radio City Music Hall . Everything is going well for the boys, but they have yet to be signed. Their first recording experience, a 45, “I Don't Like Your Face/Ordinary Girls” sells 18,000 copies in the Puget Sound area. “Have an Idea,” the Heats first album, is produced by Howard Leese, a member of Heart. It sells 15,000 copies, and is eventually named as “one of the top 50 power-pop albums of all time!” by Goldmine. The band continues to perform, but by spring of 1981, Lilly leaves the band to support his new family. Wayne Clack replaces him, bringing a new energy to The Heats. Deans leaves the band in 1982 to pursue another avenue in the entertainment field, and is replaced by Rick Bourgoin. The band continues to tour, and release a second 45, “Count on Me/Rivals” and another album, “Burnin Live”. The Heats continue until 1983. A little more info on the guys: Steve Pearson is also a native of Kenmore and has been playing guitar since high school. As a lead singer and guitarist for The Heaters, he also wrote a majority of the tunes. After The Heaters, he went on to create The RangeHoods. Always performing, Pearson lives in the Wenatchee area with his wife and her three children, and restores old British cars. Ken Deans, the original drummer for The Heaters, also grew up in Kenmore . Still in the entertainment field designing corporate events, Deans lives in the LA area with his wife and two sons. Wayne Clack, bassist, went on to perform in Maurice and the Cliches. Residing in the San Diego area, Wayne has taught art for over 20 years; most recently at the high school level. His wife and daughter enjoy raising horses. 2001 The guys performed 5-6 times this year, starting out at the RockSport in February. They started doing acoustic sets at private parties... always an enjoyable evening having The Heaters in your living room. Waldo's and the RockSport are scheduled for the end of June. They performed at The Bite of Seattle, and other area club dates. 2002 This year brought The Heaters “Live and Live Again,” a double, live CD with never before released versions of “Nightshift”, “Some Other Guy”, “Have An Idea”, and “Train Kept A Rollin”. CD celebration began February 15 at Waldo's, an in-store at Easy Street (Ballard), and a performance in Everett at PC's Pub. That night was reminiscent of The Shire. March brought a performance in Pioneer Square at the Central Tavern. July was sunny! The band performed in the LA area at the International POP Festival. The year ended with several appearances at Waldo's.

For over twenty-three years, Whiskey Creek has thrilled audiences all over the West Coast as America’s number one tribute to the legendary southern-rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Recreating the image and the music of the southern rock band that took the world by storm in the ‘70’s, Whiskey Creek not only plays Lynyrd Skynyrd, they personify the group on stage, taking the audience back in time thirty years as they blaze through classics like Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Three Steps, The Breeze, and their phenomenal note-for-note version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Live” guitar opus, Freebird. One of the most amazing aspects of Skynyrd’s music (and Whiskey Creek’s tribute) is that its fan base literally runs from seven to seventy years old! This has been proven time and time again everywhere they’ve played. Whiskey Creek has performed countless fairs, festivals, casinos and clubs throughout the region, including Spokane Interstate Fair, Chehalis Music in the Parks, Darrington Classic Rock Festival, the White River Amphitheater, Key Arena @ Seattle Center, Bite of Seattle, the Emerald Queen Casino Showroom, the Jackson Prairie Speedway, the Sturgis Black Hills Rally in Sturgis, SD, and many, many more. The band has also shared billing with numerous national artists including Molly Hatchet, Delbert McClinton, Little Feat, Pat Travers, Foghat, Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, Black Oak Arkansas, Quiet Riot, Dr. John, Savoy Brown, Seattle’s own Randy Hansen, Elvin Bishop, Commander Cody, Paul Rodgers, Head East, Janis Joplin’s band Big Brother and the Holding Company, Blue Oyster Cult, The Southern Rock All Stars, Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf and others. Wherever this band performs, the press and other media rave. Radio stations KZOK 102.5 and KISM 92.9 praise and promote Whiskey Creek frequently. “I thought I had a good preview of your show after watching your video, but nothing compares to seeing you live! You guys are HOT! I’ll definitely be seeing you again.” Vic-the-Dude: Disc-jockey KZOK 102.5 FM “On behalf of everyone at KISM, I would like to thank you for the FANTASTIC show you gave us at the 92 Days of Summer Party. We could not have asked for better entertainment - you blew us (and the audience) clean away! Again, thank you very much. You were superb!” Carol Dooley: Program Director KISM 92.9 FM Other rave reviews and articles on Whiskey Creek and their Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd by journalists Gene Stout, Claude Flowers and others have been published in: The Seattle Times, Seattle P.I., Gig Magazine, Rolling Stone, South County Journal, Tacoma News Tribune and numerous other publications. The newly formed STORMY BOYS' Band blew out Puyallup's Nifty Fifties during the group's first live (debut) performance since forming the end of 2005. Their sound is as hard as rock candy. Solid, original pieces showed strong music foundation while the three guitars could be a sweet harmonizing blend of rhythm and sound or focused fusion which etches Southern Boogie style, blues or ear piercing rock. Whatever it was, the dancers loved it and the dance floor stayed crowded with shaking bodies all during the band's performance. Bill Moss, STORMY BOYS' lead guitarist, songwriter and singer was the founding member of REBEL STORM, a US/European touring Rock group about a decade ago to a much acclaimed and chartbusting 2002 album. The group touched on Southern Rock but now bringing together the talented Church Guitarist, Mark Baker and Bassist, Paul Buck with David Baca on drums, Bill has the opportunity to expand his horizons to more of a rock boogie rhythm and down right funk. Billy's roots took hold from plugging into Mobil Alabama's electronic blues and rock scene in the late 1970's. Now he wants his songs to tell that story in his own unique style. The "boogie" most people identify with is not the STORMY BOYS' boogie. It's not tickling the ivories and singing or playing in off-syncopated style. The band's boogie has the rock beat throughout with their own grooving style. Bill's song lyrics seem to capture daily life of the working class south. "Sleepin' Down At The Hollow," "I'm Feelin' Alright," "Movin' Down The Line," "Works All Day," and “Get It On My Baby Girl" are typical examples. Many references to Mississippi and Louisiana come through during the show as well in story or in song. Bill Moss's intent is to bring out the fiery, soulful magic of little known and understood "Boogie Rock" where his new band can create their own unique brand of slide work, electronic sound tones and beat. The talent is firmly planted and their genders can "cross over" for them in what they create together. It's worth keeping your eye on this group. They have started off on the right stompin' foot. Check out their web site www.stormyboys.net. A CD is in the works. March 2006 Chain Reaction and 8 Feet Standing Chain Reaction
We are Chain Reaction and it's rumored that we are a damn fun and danceable band. Everyone in the band puts in their own ideas for songs, and we have become a melting pot of styles. We have tried to keep the variety band, multi-personality thing going instead of becoming a "theme" band. We want to play something for everybody. If you want to hear some disco, we can play some disco. Rock? We can rock hard. Rap? Yeah Baby, come on, come on! Pop? Of course we can bubble gum enough to make Britney Spears jaws hurt. Motown? Naomi sings some seriously inspired motown. Current tunes, classics, Swiss yodeling, Tibetan chanting, whateva! We will play anything for a buck and have fun doing it. Our purpose in life is to make sure that you have fun and leave feelin' good. Dance, dance, dance 'til yer paws are sore. Naomi, our new singer is a great talent. We are sure that all of our Chain Reaction friends, and the clubs we play, are going to love her. 8 Feet Standing
What's the sound of hundreds of feet dancing to powerful vocals, lush harmonies, high energy and solid musicianship? It's the sound you get when 8 Feet Standing takes the stage! 8 Feet Standing has been wowing the Seattle club scene for years with their amazingly varied repertoire. Fronted by seasoned vocalist, Freddie Krumins, 8 Feet Standing is truly unlike any other cover band around. Freddie has a naturally powerful and relaxed style that connects with the audience, and creates a fun, party atmosphere. Freddie's soaring vocals, combined with abundantly talented backing of the instrumentalists, create a head-turning explosion of energy and charisma. Dan Watts has been playing guitar since his early teens. He has performed in clubs and other venues all over the Puget Sound area for numerous years. His precision style is distinctive, and is a rhythmic and driving force of 8 Feet Standing. Drummer Ed Watts has been playing drums for over 30 years. He has tons of performance experience in bands such as: "Annie" and "Johnny Saturn & the Electrics." He has a sincere passion for music, performing and musical theater, and his command of complex and a diverse rhythm provide the power and underscores the versatility of the band. Bassist and Vocalist, Kenny Hanselman, has been playing bass and singing both lead and backup with Northwest area bands for over 25 years. His solid, powerful and funky bass style, combined with Ed's solid drum work has created one of the finest rhythm sections ever heard in a Seattle-area club. Saxophonist, David Fischer, adds luster and showmanship to the band. Like the others, he also has an impressive resume of former bands. He adds authenticity to 8 Feet Standing's classic R&B and dance music sounds. This five-piece dance band is available for any type of function. February 2006 Boneyard & Crazy Train Ozzy Tribute Boneyard Boneyard is a four piece band playing the most popular Rock, Funk, Reggae and Blues-based dance music from the 60's to the present. This is a serious good time party band that plays real rock with a big beat and a big sound. Featuring three great vocalists each with their own distinctive style, this band is non-stop boogie excitement. Superb musicianship, showmanship and an excellent sound are all hallmarks of their fast moving show. From Billy Idol to Stevie Ray Vaughn to Bob Marley to The Ohio Players the easily recognizable dance hits just keep coming and their audiences keep coming back for more. Thanks for checking in. Crazy Train Ozzy Tribute Tim Tugg as Ozzy Tim's Ozzy career began about a year and a half ago when he won second place for best costume at the KGON Paranormal Halloween party dressed as Ozzy. He was then recognized on national TV when he sent a photo of himself to the Sharon Osbourne show. Sharon talked about Tim on her show because he wears the actual cross that Ozzy himself gave Tim at a Black Sabbath concert back in 1971. Tim's remarkable likeness to Ozzy Osbourne has some people believing that they are at an actual Ozzy concert. Our Singer Tim Tugg has also been featured on the Judge Mathis Show as Ozzy. Crusher During this time Crusher developed his craft and stage presence. Many have questioned his name of Crusher. This name was given to him by some former band members years ago. One would have to see him play to truly understand the name... it fits him perfectly. Crusher spent a total of 14 years touring all over the United States, playing in 48 of the 52 states. See Crusher's photo page for pictures during this time. After all his years touring and playing, Crusher has finally settled down, gotten married, had a family, and made his home in Vancouver, Washington. Rick Lapinski Bass Guitar Bassist Rick Lapinski, who hails from the Columbia river gorge in Oregon holds down the low end for Crazy Train with authority. Rick has spent many years polishing his skills, particularly in the Los Angeles, Ca. area. Rick sites Sabbath’s Geezer Butler, and Primus's Les Claypool as influences. Rick is one of the founding members of Crazy Train, and will certainly entertain show goers at every show with his experience. January 2006 Christmas compilation effort warms hearts for the holidays Twelve local bands collaborate on Christmas CD; proceeds from ‘Have A Very Metal Xmas’ will benefit families in need By Diane Kennedy Santa takes time out of his busy day to deliver some packages. Who says the love is gone out of music? Twelve local bands from across the state of Washington joined forces with Radio 420 Online and Coyote Records to put together a compilation CD called “Have A Very Metal Xmas” in which all the proceeds went to help kids have a brighter Christmas. On Christmas Eve morning, Santa hooks up his reindeer, throws three bags of presents in his sleigh and heads for Everett, WA. He heard twelve local bands from across the state of Washington had put together a CD to sell, to help bring smiles on Christmas morning. How could he not deliver these gifts himself? Having his elves prearrange a meeting place, Santa decided these young hard working individuals needed a bit of the Christmas spirit themselves and wanted to wish them a Merry Christmas himself. He enters the room carrying his bags of gifts, naturally this jolly fellow gets attention wherever he goes, but he was on a mission. He looks around, and with a jolly laugh, walks up to one young lady, gives her a hug and says, “Merry Christmas my Dear, I have been ask to deliver these gifts to you and another young lady for your children. He walks over to the other young lady gives her a hug, and wishers her a Merry Christmas. He reaches into his bag and pulls out gifts for these young mothers, then hands them each huge bags of gifts for their children. Then he says, “Wait I have one more gift here”, he walks over to a young man sitting there, and says, “I hear your family lives across the state and you don’t have the resources to get home, he hands him a ticket home for the holidays. Having been hugged and mauled by three young people, Santa’s heart is filled with love and joy, and was proud to be part of “Have A Very Metal Xmas”. Santa’s mission was complete, time to get back to work, he has a lot of children to see in the next 24 hours, as he is about to leave he turns, waves and says, “The Christmas spirit comes from the heart, just as the music that made all this possible. With a jolly laugh and a wave of his hand, Santa was off to spread Christmas joy to the other children of the world. KEWL BREEZE PRESENTS: Steven Evans – Voice Sometime in July of 2003, ChoiceFatal rose up from the sun-drenched soil
of Eastern Washington to form a completely new style of heavy metal music.
All four CF members are battle hardened musicians that are not afraid
to play music that is heavy yet melodic, aggressive yet laden with a funk
inspired groove. Lumos started out as the bastard children abandoned by 80's butt rock and old school punk. Not sure how to take over the world, we began a trek though chaotic realms of distortion and screams. The true nature of our beast is completely unknown, yet the journey for answers is becoming a great one. I invite you now to join this hodge podge band of misfits and rouges and defiantly triumph over all that you know as reality. For in the end, there shall be a dark light leading the way. Listen for Lumos On Radio420 Online, the online station that gives you the most music - www.radio420online.com.
