A Karaoke theme park... cool!
By Mike Carlin, Karaoke Tonight
Where do karaoke singers go when we do not have karaoke at the Tin Hat Tavern in Kennewick. How many times have you Karaoke Jocks wondered that when your lying in bed at home trying to sleep with visions of Chartbusters and Top Hits Monthly running through your sleepy head secretly wishing that you were out there playing host to your guests.
We at the Tin Hat over the past nine months, (enough time to have a baby...he he he) have developed a core of singers who are like a musical family. They, of course, bring dollars to the tavern which is really what its all about, right? But they also bring a consistency to the karaoke show. Like regulars at the pool tables, or those perched upon the bar stool, these voices have become familiar. Some... okay, most sing the same songs each week, rarely branching out into new musical territory, but when they do, its always a pleasure when a musical hurdle has been overcome. We have all been there. I have learned over time that Karaoke is a hobby to our guests. Each time they put that mic near their lips and bellow out "My Way", "North to Alaska", or "Hysteria", their brain is saying in their heads...."Your good, really good". (I know my brain tells me that, and sometimes I believe it.)
So, where do our singers go when I'm not there to guide them down melody lane? Most likely to other venues around the Tri Cities, keeping the dream alive. I was talking to a friend of mine, Scott Spence, who owns AB CDs Multi Media in Kennewick, our local karaoke superstore in the Tri Cities. Scott commented on the number of karaoke operators here. I believe that competition is a good thing, (sometimes we could use a bit less of a good thing), however our performers, our guests at the Tin Hat venture out into the karaoke world when we are not hosting to taste the thrill of the other karaoke theme parks around the Tri Cities. Like rollercoasters, each one a bit different, but a lot of fun. So to our regulars, David, Diane, J.P., Dennis, George, Darla, Blaine, Robin, Yolanda, Kitty and Loren (who are getting married by the way) and all the rest, thank you. Keep singing and have fun, just remember to come back home.
Karaoke Tonight owned by Mike Carlin, plays at the Tin Hat Tavern Thursday, Saturday and Sunday Evenings. Log on to www.karaoketonight.net for more information.
