Isn’t it fun to meet with your friends at a local karaoke bar to hang out and sing some songs? What happens if you’re the only one in your group of friends that likes to sing? Sure, your friends don’t mind watching you sing, but what if you want them to get up and sing, and they flat-out refuse to go up? Sometimes, that can be a challenging request that never seems to happen.

Have you ever thought to yourself; I’d like to go and visit some different karaoke spots and meet up with other karaoke singers? Well, now you can join a group for free that does exactly that!

The site is www.meetup.com. The largest group in Washington state is the Seattle Karaoke Stars. About a year ago it was the ninth largest group in the country with about 50 members. Currently with 96 members, the Seattle group is the fourth largest karaoke group in the country for meetup.com. Way to go, Seattle! There are groups starting up in Tacoma, Vancouver, Blaine, Renton, Bellevue and Spokane, and the list goes on!

Meetup.com is a very user- friendly Web site that was established for groups of many different categories. It’s like an online organizer that offers everything you need to establish and maintain your group. It shows you how to keep in contact with members, post events, print event brochures, make signage for events, etc.

Of course, a group can only succeed if it has a good leader. The Seattle Karaoke Stars’ coordinator is Diana Slater. Diana took over the coordinator position several months ago, and has been doing a great job! If you are interested in organizing a group in your area, it’s fairly simple to do; details are available online. If you still have any questions, contact Diana via the Web site and she’ll be happy to answer your questions.

The Seattle Karaoke Stars’ most recent event was held at the Bush Garden in Seattle’s International District on July 21. Approximately 15 members and guests showed. The evening was filled with great entertainment and fun! Some people drove from far distances to join the group. Toby brought in Alicia from the Skagit area just to be there that evening. Sign up for free - the group is very energetic, and growing fast!

As a karaoke host, it’s a great way to get an instant crowd for a contest or karaoke event. The Seattle Karaoke Stars schedule monthly events and chooses the establishments with lots of input from their members. Start a group in your area or join an existing group!

If you’re an owner of an establishment that has karaoke entertainment, it might be in your best interest to browse meetup.com and become an active member of this group. You can post your event on the message board or personally invite the group to hold one of their events at your location.

It’s like a party waiting to happen and a great way to make new friends and hang out with a group of singers who just want to “meetup” and have a great time!
