Karaoke Corner: Mirkwood Shire & Cafe
By Rocky & Kristine Fields
Welcome to May’s edition of the most awesome karaoke publication in existence! So happy to find you here once again.
Recently, I went exploring in my own back yard of Arlington, WA, and discovered a very unique place to share with you. The Mirkwood & Shire Cafe, located at 117 E. Division St. in Arlington, is distinctly different and well worth checking out.
Upon arrival, you’ll notice the exterior looks a lot like an old castle, or an old church. As you enter through the front doors, you’ll find a counter on the right that serves smooth espressos, and delicious vegetarian and vegan foods. Yes, I said delicious!

Hi there, welcome to the March edition of the Karaoke Guide!
Well, they say the recession has officially ended, but we’re still seeing a lot of local businesses close their doors. For example, just recently, Cyndy’s Broiler in Stanwood closed up shop. Sad to see them close their doors, and we wish them the best of luck in the future. A lot of places don’t realize, it takes a good five years or so to begin making a good profit on any business, even those that are well established and franchised.

I can tell it’s going to be a great year when it starts flying by. Twenty-Thirteen should prove to be a lot of fun. We’ll continue bringing you news from various karaoke shows, live music, events, and information about all things concerning live entertainment and karaoke from around the area.
Last month we headed into Lake Stevens to get the scoop. Downtown Lake Stevens is a beautiful city. The park on the water is a sight to behold. Lake Stevens hosts lots of events each year, drawing people from all over to come and visit the quaint little town. But in its downtime, away from Aquafest and Octoberfest, there’s still plenty of fun to be had here.

We made it! The world didn’t end as predicted by the Mayans, no doomsday peril, just a fresh start to a new year. Whew! So happy to see you all again, and welcome to this exciting new issue of the Karaoke & Live Entertainment Guide.
Last month, I told you all how grateful I am for all that I have and those that we know and love too. Now I’ve set my sights on my New Year’s resolutions. I know, I hear you all groaning out there, but there really is something to “starting over” for me. Most folks have the best of intentions at the beginning of each new year, they’re going to lose weight, they’re going to get their finances in order, stop drinking, stop being negative, exercise more, oh the list goes on and on, doesn’t it? I know for me it does.

The end of the Summer always brings loads of entertainment, and this year’s Evergreen Idol Finals at the Evergreen State Fair was at the top of my list! The Top 12 Finalists competed for a grand prize of $1,000.00, plus a chance to sing on the big stage before country superstar Rodney Atkins.

Karaoke Corner: Skagit Singers Win Big!
Summer is usually a time for families to vacation together. A time when the kids head off to visit the grandparents. A chance for mom and dad to get out and sing karaoke at their favorite watering holes. All is right with the world, at least for a little while.
Just a quick reminder, that we too will be taking a brief hiatus from Skagit karaoke in July, but will return in August and sing our way into 2013.
Don’t forget that the Skagit Valley Casino Resort features amazing entertainment on the Pacific Showroom stage! Jim Breuer from SNL will be performing July 20 and 21, and Country music grammy nominee and CMA Horizon winner, John Anderson takes the stage August 17, for two shows only.
