The Bierhaus at Mt. Angel has the Key to success

By  Kurt “Swingcat” Johnson

Mt. Angel, Oregon is a small, rural Willamette Valley town located northeast of Salem. The Bierhaus is their neighborhood bar.  About fifteen miles off of I-5 at the Woodburn exit, the Beirhaus enjoys a diverse, local, and loyal crowd of faithfuls.

Of course, the music selections are predominately Country, however they do get a mix of karaoke singer selections.

Hosting at The Bierhaus is KJ Randy Key of Artistic Voices Entertainment. He’s at The Bierhaus on Saturday nights, and gigs around the Salem/Keizer area. A KJ for over thirteen years, Key has been at The Bierhaus for just three months now. His music system is computerized and features a song catalog twenty-thousand tracks strong. He uses Berhinger mixing equipment and Cerwin-Vega mains.

Key is completing his music audit and certifications for Sound Choice and Charbuster. He commented on the process, “I just got certified with Chartbuster and am awaiting my final certification from Sound Choice. When I first got to The Bierhaus, the management was not aware of the certification process. We’ve talked about it, and they understand how the process works now. At my other gigs, I’ve provided them with copies of my certs, along with the Sound Choice Safe Harbor literature. They’ve been very positive and receptive toward the process.”

He added this about the crowd at The Bierhaus, “Its fun. I was raised in this town. The first impression is that all the kids (singers) are the kids of people I went to school with. Its mostly a Country and Classic Rock kind of place. I enjoy having new singers. The more the merrier, and I’ll always treat you with respect, like I’ve known you for years!”
