Big Show for Harbor Karaoke Contest Finale
By Ty Hughes
Well Angela, Randi, DJ Old Skool, and the rest of the gang have finally put the wraps on their annual Harbor Karaoke Contest for 2012. What a season it’s been, with the bar closing down right in the middle of the contest. Quickly and decisively, they transfered the contest over to Casey’s Grill on Kent’s East Hill.
Without so much as a hiccup, the contest qualifiers continued all the way up to the big Finale event in May. In fact, Randi, owner at Casey’s graciously honored all H.D. Hotspurs Gift Certificates! She is so awesome like that!
Twelve years of experience gives Angela a sense of calm in times of chaos. When everybody’s tugging on one of her shirt sleeves, shouting questions at her, she just smiles politely and keeps everyone pointed in the right direction.
Don, Ivana, and yours truly, sat at the ready to judge eleven of their best singers accumulated over the past couple months. Ready to charge the stage were Zman, Taneka, Meggin, Dee, Sean J, Mandy, L, Sean W, Arin, Renee, and Johnny W.
The talent was said to be better than any years prior, and each contestant brought energy and creativity to their performance. In the end, Dee and Johnny tied for 3rd Place and Randi handed them both dinner for two. Zman slid into a close 2nd to L, who killed Sinatra’s I Did It My Way. He takes the $300 pot and thanked the bar and the crowd.
Congrats to everyone who participated this year. Can’t wait to get the next one started already!
