Charley’s for the Troops
During the summer months, over 17,000 soldiers will be returning home from the War on Terrorism. Of these soldiers, approximately 7,500 are single and will be returning to empty living quarters.
The Fort Lewis Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is in the process of coordinating a community effort to collect funding or supplies to stock up the living quarters for these single soldiers.
Charley’s Pub and Restaurant in Fircrest (Tacoma) has graciously agreed to assist in the aid of these returning soldiers. Owner Steve Kasemeier and Karaoke Host Bobby Miller will be active contributors by donating generously to the AUSA.
Community businesses or residents can help by donating: razors, soap, shampoo, conditioners, new towels, shaving cream, shower curtains, shower curtain hooks, power drinks, bottled water, deodorants, TV dinners (non-perishable), potato chips, pretzels, jerky, candies, or dollars! Businesses can also provide special offers. For example, a movie theater can offer a free movie, a restaurant can offer a free meal, etc. These soldiers bring their friends, so this means more business for you!

The Fort Lewis AUSA Chapter has established subchapters in the cities of Puyallup, Lacey, and Lakewood. Each one’s primary focus is to support the 5th, 3rd, and 4th Stryker Brigades respectively.
