Donnie Dark highlights all-new Stix ‘n Stones

By Ty Hughes

The very best in karaoke entertainment is currently being redefined at the all-new Stix ‘n Stones Restaurant and Lounge in downtown Renton.

Under the direction of the master, Donnie Dark, legendary host 45 years in the making, the karaoke experience at Stix ‘n Stones rises high above the rest. Not only is the sound system better than most, but Donnie brings his high-energy excitement to the stage every Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30pm to 1:30am. More on Donnie Dark to follow.

Opening their doors to the public in early July, Stix ‘n Stones’ is well on it’s way to becoming Renton’s premier dining, dancing and karaoke hotspot, already attracting good people from all over the Sound.

The ownership team of TJ Stone, Alex Atwood and their lovely wives Jennifer and Nupur have assembled the most favorable elements to offer the complete package. TJ’s background as a contractor and longtime karaoke host has afforded him the ability to present the public with an inspirational atmosphere of class and style without all the pretentiousness. Together with Alex and a staff of quality-minded folks anxious to put their best foot forward, they’ve created a magnificent restaurant and lounge, raising the standard of nightlife in Renton.

Along with Donnie Dark, Chef Benjamin was hand-picked by TJ and Alex to run the kitchen. His experience in the field of culinary arts rivals any big-city bigwig, bringing an aire of excellence that is sure to please even the most discerning of palettes. By using only the freshest and best quality ingredients, Chef Benjamin and his staff are committed to quality through and through. Every single dish that leaves the kitchen is mouth-watering and expertly prepared. TJ suggested I try one of their personal pizzas for just six bucks. Cassandra, my server, was more than willing to help me order just the right toppings, she was great! I chose the Chicken Alfredo. It was quite possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had, no kidding. In fact, I had the rest for breakfast the next day. And you might think you would pay handsomely for a meal of this caliber, but you couldn’t be more wrong. The pricing structure at Stix ‘n Stones is very reasonable, and will not have you gasping for air.

They serve lunch and dinner daily until 10pm, plus breakfast every weekend until 11am. On Friday and Saturday nights you can order off the breakfast menu from 11pm to closing, how cool is that? You’re certain to find something on the menu that tempts the taste buds any day of the week. Check out their full menu and more at www.stixnstonesplace.com.

Meanwhile, Donnie queues up the music that will have you schuckin’ and jivin’ into the wee hours every Wednesday through Saturday night. The dance floor at the foot of the stage beckons. Lights swirling, karaoke aplenty, mixed with an occasional group line dance, maybe an impressive rock number by Donnie himself before they get back to the top of the rotation, which ought to include you and your friends.

Last month, we saw the likes of Team Blackout, a goodtime karaoke duo, and their best girls out for some karaoke fun with Donnie and friends. Tara lost her karaoke virginity at Donnie’s show, and she couldn’t have been in better hands. Donnie was happy to oblige. Ronnie celebrated his birthday with friends and family. His sister Tiffany dedicated a song to her big brother. Cousins Niki and Kerri busted a move, and even Chuck treated the room to his own vocal stylings.

Donnie Dark has become one of the area’s most well-liked and sought after karaoke hosts over the years. His style and panache is undeniable and over the past five decades, Donnie has perfected his craft. Probably the best dressed host around, he’s one smooth operator!

Bring a date, enjoy an amazing dinner and drinks, and settle back for a memorable night of music and entertainment. It won’t set you back an arm and a leg and you’ll have stories to tell around the water cooler for days!

Be sure to come down and help them celebrate their huge Grand Opening on Friday, August 13, 2010, where you’ll enjoy all the finer aspects of the all new Stix ‘n Stones Restaurant and Lounge, located at 317 Main Ave S., Renton, WA 98057 (425) 282-4173. The mayor will perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:00pm. Finger foods will be provided.

UPDATE: Stix ‘n Stones is now offering Tuesday Night Comedy Shows with top-shelf comics! Enjoy a scrumptious dinner and a show for just $30.00/pp – a great way to show her how much you care.
