Downright festivous at the Blue Moon

By Ty Hughes

Those guys at the Blue Moon are just crazy, that’s all there is to it!

But, man, do they get after it! Heading up the party is owner Jim Baker himself on the weekends. Host AC still comes in to run the karaoke on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Jim loves being back to the music, his love, his roots. His love of music radiates from his whole being as he tends to his signature, custom sound system. He loves getting the crowd singing and dancing out loud at his popular little bar in Everett. And boy, do they oblige. The party is always a good one at the Blue Moon, and everybody’s fun and friendly, ready for a good time. Visitors are instantly caught up in the environment, and usually end up closing the place down, either that night, later, or both. And maybe still.

Stop in and join the melee at the Blue Moon. Give Jim a big high five and grab the mike. Sing some Zeppelin or a good Moody Blues tune. You will get a heck of an applause when you’re done. Next you know, you’re filling out another slip. Wednesday through Saturday you’ll enjoy a handful of very talented singers. I meant it, they really get after it. Karaoke with a vengeance and the whole room gets into the show.

Jim’s expertise on that system has his singers dialed in perfectly, and they definitely recognize and appreciate the quality.

Christy’s beautiful country tone filled the room with goodness. Connor brought us Piano Man, Renee revisited a killer Journey tune. Eric took center stage for Hurts So Good, and Frank’s Silent Lucidity melted us all. As we gathered ourselves, he quickly tucked his collection of karaoke discs under his arm, and he was out the door in a flash.

Ryan, who apparently sang for Simon Cowell once, brought the audience to their feet for Sinatra’s I Did It My Way. There’s something about Ryan that tells me he’ll do well for himself, probably on a stage somewhere soon. He’s got that creative, performing artist vibe about him. Plus, he sings very well!

There are so many reasons to visit the Blue Moon in Everett. How about $3 Biscuits & Gravy, or 3 Tacos for $2.50 on Mondays? Maybe you’re in the mood for a killer Meat Lover’s, Hawaiian, or Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. They’re only $8.50 here! Pepperoni pizzas for just $7 bucks!

That gives you the perfect alibi. Now get on over to the Blue Moon and start making some memories already.
