Get your karaoke lovin’ at Oaktree 2

A comfortable feeling comes over me as I walk through the doors at the Oaktree Food & Drink Co. #2, a neighborhood pub on the outskirts of Spanaway. Lined with dark wood-colored walls, the bar’s sole pool table sits just near the rear exit.

On the opposite end of the bar is the karaoke booth with a dance floor, plenty of room to stretch your legs as you two-step to the music. The dance floor is well lit with help from the hundreds of glimmering CDs stuck to the walls like a platinum artist’s trophy room.

KJ Richard has been working on his CD wallpaper since 2004 and never stops thinking of ways to improve his show. He recently installed a separate computer for singers to research an extensive library of karaoke songs. He even hooked up some high quality headphones for you to listen to a song before you sing it.

Tristen, the bar manager is very accommodating and loves all of her regulars. They handpick their steaks and trim to perfection before grilling them up with just the right seasonings. There’s an extensive menu of items to choose from.

The Oaktree’s ongoing $500 winner-take-all karaoke contest on Thursdays is a big hit. A diverse group of performers looking for that big cash prize donned their best outfits and sang their hearts out. Jeff Sang “One” by Brian Mcknight, while Melissa chose to sing Madonnas’ “Like a Prayer”; and we can’t forget about DJ who sang an upbeat classic “Johnny B. Goode”.

The Oaktree 2 is packed with regulars who come in nightly to sing karaoke songs. KJ Richard dials in each singers voice with the precision of a surgeon.
