Hard Luck brings good luck for one

All-New Hard Luck Bar & Grill, Tacoma, WA, brought good luck and a little bit of fame and fortune to one very special artist on Tuesday, July 31st. Karaoke Host, Garry Howden, was prepared to hand someone $500 cash for first place in their Summer Lovin‘ Karaoke Contest, set to culminate on this very night. You can be sure the room was packed full of heavy-hitters that night.
Jeremy, Holly, and the rest of the crew kept their guest’s requests fulfilled at their tables, where the Finalists and their supporters waited excitedly for the contest to begin.
Host Garry had nine hand-chosen Finalists in attendance and ready to go. They were Karen, Galen, Annette, Frank, Daddy Rich, Phil, Justin, Mike, and local legend, Alabama, who is a beloved mentor to many of the area’s best karaoke singers.
Everybody was all warmed up and itching to take the stage. Several judges scattered around the room sat at the ready. The singers would be judged primarily on their vocal ability, of course, but also on audience reaction and interaction, song selection and knowledge, appearance, stage presence, and something new, whether or not they are a regular patron of the bar.
Anyone considered to be a regular patron, automatically gets a ten-point boost, which could easily push them over the top, and into the winner’s position. There were no complaints from the traveling competitors, they knew they would have to rise to the challenge and simply overcome the deficit. And a couple of them did just that!
One by one, the chosen nine turned in a fabulous performance they hoped worthy of being selected to receive the five-hundred dollar prize. While the judges collaborated in the corner, Mika, Blue, and Andrea filled the bar with their booty-shakin’ version of Call Tyrone.
Everybody was movin’ and groovin’ when Garry called attention to announce the final results. The room went quiet… “Our Grand Champion, and $500 Winner of the Summer Lovin’ Karaoke Contest is… Justin!”
Mixed emotions swirled around the room. Everyone applauded. And Justin was grateful for his status as a regular patron at the Hard Luck, giving him the advantage over a couple very talented Finalists that night.
Congratulations to Justin, and the rest of the field, for an outstanding night of competition at the Hard Luck Bar & Grill.
