Jam Night at Washington Sips

Rocky and I took my daughter Emily to hear Duffy and friends play live at Washington Sips in beautiful downtown La Conner. It was a Friday evening, and we made the trek, not sure what we would find.

Duffy is not just an avid karaoke singer, he also plays his own hand-crafted native Indian flutes. Recently, he has recorded some of his best works. The music is very relaxing, even transcendental.

Friday Jam Night at Washington Sips allows people from all walks of life to participate in a celebration of music. We heard a drummer, a keyboardist, a harmonica, several different guitar players and singers, not to mention our boy Duffy, the flautist.

What a nice, relaxing night, open to all ages, which was nice for a change. Small children danced around to some of the more upbeat tunes, while the adults sipped wine and enjoyed tasty, atypical cuisine. I ordered the Caprese Skewers, but there were three types to choose from. I loved those little tomatoes and mint leaves, with cheese and olive oil drizzled over the top.

The desserts were delicious. Giant, warm cookies, and an absolutely decadent Tiramisu!

The music changed with each different addition and subtraction of singers and players. It was such an eclectic mix that truly delighted the senses.

Washington Sips has a cozy room with couches along the walls, a few scattered tables and chairs, or stools depending on where you can find a seat. It was standing-room only, and mostly singers and players.

We found a comfy couch with a cute little coffee table for our goodies on order.

The evening went well. Each group took their turn on the microphone, and sometimes the entire room would sing along. I felt like I was right at home, with the added benefit of a beautiful sunset over the water, a fresh menu, and a giant selection of spectacular wines.
