La Hacienda is at it again!
By Kristine Fields
It seems everything in life goes through cycles, and karaoke is another of these. We’ve watched karaoke come and go from different locations, sometimes same hosts, sometimes different, but it always seems to come back around, like the changing of fashions over time, or the changing of seasons.
La Hacienda in Lake Stevens is yet again, featuring karaoke at their venue, new host, new times. Their host Paul, says that “people who know me call me Papa, or Papa P”.
I told him he didn’t seem old enough for me to be calling him that, but I can understand how nicknames come about and thought it was cute how the patrons were all calling him Papa.
La Hacienda’s new show has a new feel about it too, especially because the show times are early. Come in and have dinner by 6pm, then step over to the bar and sing your heart out from 6pm-9pm. The show is over at 9pm, no ifs ands or buts about it. It’s one of those things people aren’t used to yet, but judging by the size of the crowds already gathering the night we visited, it’s going to be a real hit!
Classy Karaoke and La Hacienda Restaurant & Lounge are proudly presenting their first annual “Ladie’s Nite Karaoke Contest”. The flyer taunts you, “Come on Ladies and Gents, show us your stuff – we know you got it!”. The host, Papa will be giving away over $250 in cash and prizes, and is excited to see what folks in the area will bring to the table. He’s heard about some of the amazing singers from Washington via our Karaoke Guide and can’t wait to see who pops in! The Ladies Nite show is Thursdays from 6pm-9pm.
They also have a karaoke night on Tuesdays, same time, same place. If you’ve never been to La Hacienda in Frontier Village, you’d be silly not to try their food. It’s been consistently fantastic over the years, even back when we hosted karaoke here and long before that. La Hacienda’s commercials say, La Hacienda, “where the flavor makes the difference” and they really aren’t kidding!
We enjoyed a really cool light show at “La Ha” when we visited on a Tuesday night. Papa told us that between the bar management and himself, they’ve really beefed up the feel of the stage and dancing area. There is a stripper pole in the middle of the stage, and if you’re feeling a bit frisky, they encourage you to give it a whirl. You can count me out on that one but it can be fun to watch others. Even downright hilarious to watch the guys!
Papa has installed a huge projector screen television to play the karaoke words on and keeps the rotation swift and consistent. We noticed the host mixes the singers too, something we find to be a big plus at any karaoke show. The karaoke singers and those who were just there to enjoy the show whooped it up for each and every singer, making me feel like getting up there and getting some love too. Personally, if I go to a show and I don’t sing, it’s because I don’t feel that the audience is appreciative or I don’t feel that the sound or host will suit my voice well. Yes, I am picky that way, being a host’s wife has spoiled me just a little. But the point is, I got up and sang a duet with the host himself, and I felt very appreciated afterwards, and even during the performance. Nothing like a little ego booster when you go out for an evening!
We recommend getting your piece of the pie at La Hacienda. If you’re looking for an early night out, a great meal, a welcoming location and a fun host, you’ll be happy when you visit. Tell Papa you read about him here and then show them your stuff. Maybe you’ll win a prize (Thursday night show). La Hacienda is located at 621 State Route 9, Lake Stevens, WA (425) 334-4939.
