Party down at the Water Hole Pub
By Scott Kringle
Saturday nights in the Summertime are always a blast when you find a place with great entertainment. Someplace you can win a little cash, maybe some candy treats, and a drink ticket or two.
The Water Hole Bar & Grill on Sumner, Washington’s Main Street was definitely the right place to be on Saturday, October 8.
DJ Steve Smith played a rousing set of music from the 50s and 60s era before the karaoke even got started later that night. Folks showed up dressed like our forefathers from back in the day, ready for an exciting night of celebration.
Also hosting a trivia contest that night, random questions were posed by Steve, and the first one to get the right answer became the proud owner of a box of Halloween candy, plus a drink ticket! Karen Kringle took the first prize, and four more would be given away before the night was out.
Cash prizes were awarded to Sandi, Crystal, Bonnie, and Jeffery for best-dressed. Bonnie was sure to tell everyone that would listen that she emptied an entire can of hair spray on her doo. Every time she went out to smoke, we pictured her coiffure going up in flames as she lit up.
Sandi and Crystal spent a few bucks showing everyone how pool is really to be played. Water Hole servers, Diane and Nancy were doing yeomen’s work serving up some awesome cocktails and delectable bar cuisine. Diane was fully prepared to give away lots of money to those buying hoards of pulltab tickets from their many available bowls.
DJ Steve called out, “Radio KSEX, Sumners own radio station”, as he kicked out those golden oldies and kept everyone thoroughly entertained.
Tonya hosted the karaoke that night from 9:30pm until closing. Anyone with a voice was invited to get up there and try out their pipes in front of a live audience.
Singers that night included, Genevia, Sandi, and her daughter Crystal, Sponge Bob, Larry, Sue, Tonya, Dean, and Jeffery just to name a few. DJ Steve’s Elvis impression got everyone up and dancing and singing out loud.
KJ Larry Austin brought karaoke to the Water Hole Pub thirteen years ago, and it was a big hit right from the get go. Today, he has the most current equipment and thousands of songs to choose from.
These were Rocktober Nights at the Water Hole. Family, friends, and regulars came out looking for some entertainment. Owners Ken and Gerri Harden have created a great place to party out in Sumner. Just a nice, clean pub with some really nice people who like to have a good time.
If you’ve never been to the Water Hole Pub in Sumner, well you’d best get in there and check out this ultra-laid back karaoke bar featuring great food, and even greater hospitality!
