Rock The Blues News
By Gary Draper
Hey Everybody! Welcome to the first monthly feature of “RockTheBlues News”. This new feature gives me a chance to blab about what is going on with RockTheBlues, and more. You may or may not have heard of us, but RockTheBlues.com has been around for several years. Our Web site is being reconstructed offline and will soon be re-launched with much better information, and more features than ever before. We are very excited, and look forward to having it up and running soon.
RockTheBlues is dedicated to the support and promotion of musicians and their music. In 2012, we plan to take our mission to a higher plane, determined to do our part assisting the local music community.
On Sunday, October 9, we sponsored an event at “88 KEYS” in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. I’m telling you, it was a blast! THE GEMS, a ’60s-era band, literally had the place jumping while they played their oldie hit rock tunes from back in the day. It looked more like a wedding reception the way folks were partying down and having fun. The crowd even started a conga line, winding throughout the place. It was amazing the way total strangers connected as if they’d known each other for years. Now that is the kind of fun I think we all need more often in our lives.
On Saturday night, my son and I went to the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn to see ANTHEM perform in the Galaxy Room. ANTHEM is a RUSH tribute band that will absolutely amaze you. If you are a RUSH fan, you really need to check out this band. It is by far the closest thing I’ve heard to the real deal. If you close your eyes, you would probably think you were indeed at a RUSH concert. I could tell the crowd was really into it the way they cheered after every song.
Well, I’m out of here until next month. Please send any questions or comments by email to me at gary@rocktheblues.com.
