Smooth out the edges at Kathy’s

By Ty Hughes
Check your calendar, if it’s Friday night, or Humpday in the big city, you’ve got a date with Kathy!
You may not be familiar with Kathy quite yet, but she’s waiting for you on the corner of North 130th Street, just a block west of Aurora Avenue in North Seattle. Better known to the locals as Kathy’s Pizza, Grill and Sportsbar, she and her dedicated employees are anxious to serve you like you’ve never been served before.
Your date might include a nice dinner, and maybe a few cocktails, overlooking a sprawling dance floor, full of entertainment. If it’s a Friday, let DJ ChrisP (Krispy) take you on a ride that will actually seem to make your food taste just a little better. On Wednesday night at Kathy’s, you’ll fall under the spell of DJ Glenn for the duration.
Both professionals, they kick up the sound system, and fire up the mics. It’s up to you to kick up your heels and join in the fray.
Kelley and her friends, Miranda, and Gianna celebrated her 21st birthday in style last month at Kathy’s. They shared a few huge Trash Cans, a giant cocktail for the newbies. Kelley kept calling it the “Fishbowl”, which seemed appropriate. Inhibition go bye bye, dancing and flailing becomes the focus. Happy 21st birthday to Kelley!
Kathy’s was the perfect “safe place” for Kelley and her friends to let loose and sing lots of karaoke. Everyone is nice and upbeat, just good people having a great time.
DJ ChrisP would throw on a music video every now and then to keep the party going strong. He’s been hosting karaoke for two and a half years now, and runs with some of the industry’s elite. His mentors in the business literally have decades of experience.
The music is crystal clear no matter where you pull up a seat. Booth tables surround the huge dance floor, and just past the half-wall is a bank of synchronized big screens that would make any video engineer proud. What a spectacular display of technology!
Our new friend, Emcee Cathy Sorbo, likes to bring her 13 year old daughter and her friends to Kathy’s Pizza, Grill and Sportsbar between 8pm and 10pm, where they enjoy karaoke themselves. Every Wednesday and Friday night, from 8-10pm at Kathy’s, all ages are welcome to participate in the karaoke. This is quickly becoming Seattle’s number one choice for all-ages karaoke, and the clean, wholesome atmosphere is something the whole family can appreciate. They’ll love the spinning disco ball, videos, and the dance floor.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the building, they’ve got a full-blown 21 and over sports bar with pool tables, darts, a full bar, all the games, etc. They show all the UFC Fights here, so get in early, find a seat, order your pizza and relax.
If you like the trivia, come out on Thursdays and join in on the trivia contest where you can win prizes, and get discounts on your favorite beverages. The action kicks off at 8pm.
DJ Glenn and DJ ChrisP have been giving away vacation packages for the past several months. Come in and sing, enter to win for free, and on the first Friday of each month, they’ll draw a winner’s name! Don’t miss your chance at a free vacation package!
Terry popped in on his way home from work to sing a few songs, including the Jackson 5’s ABC, and wind down after a day at the office.
Samantha jumped up for Shania Twain’s Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under. Nick sang Zoot Suit Riot, before Scott and his girlfriend stormed in and he sang That’s How They Do It In Dixie.
Kathy’s is an excellent all-around venue for karaoke. Family-friendly, outstanding food, good drinks, tons of room, clean and fresh. Plan a visit to Kathy’s Pizza, Grill and Sportsbar next Wednesday or Friday night. You’ll become a card-carrying member like those that have gone before you.
Kathy’s is located at 930 N. 130th Street, Seattle, WA (206) 829-9251.
