Summer Lovin’ at the Hitchin’ Post
By Ty Hughes
Just the name, Hitchin’ Post, makes you feel like you’ve finally arrived. It’s okay to dismount, brush off, and join the boys for a cold, end-of-the-trail beer.
Deep in the heart of Federal Way is a horse of another color. Sure, it’s popular at the end of a long day, and you can still hitch your rig to the parking lot and settle in with some friends around a pint or two. At least here, you won’t get spit on, beat up, or shot at, like in the olden days. You’re perfectly safe at the Hitchin’ Post in Federal Way, where Holly and the rest of the bar staff will treat you with utmost respect and greet you with a big ol’ Texas-sized smile. They’re pumpin’ out some killer drink specials for you karaoke nuts all seven nights of the week!
They are just wrapping up their Summer Lovin’ Karaoke Contest at this writing, so stay tuned for the results in next month’s issue.
Rachel is your star karaoke host, and let me just be the first to tell you, this girl will blow you away with her own voice when she kicks off the rotation. Etta James, Norah Jones, and Adele are right in her wheelhouse.
Rachel’s been hosting at the Hitchin’ Post for four years. Her sound booth is over there behind two Golden Tee Live games encroaching the dance floor. There is plenty of seating available to guests, and the Rachel’s karaoke show dominates half the bar.
The beer garden (a fence around the back door) extends into the parking lot, and seems to attract the masses. This is a tight group of experienced post hitchers. Everyone knows everybody else. Ex-karaoke host, and contest qualifier, Josh, sang Just A Fool To Believe, dedicating it to “The chick with the hair.” Robert blew us away with Wherever You Will Go, Christine and Christina teamed up for Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon. Patty jumped up and dedicated You’re My Favorite Mistake to friends Carrie and Laura.
Steve was out with his nephew Cody who just turned 21. They got up and performed a Metallica song. No, they weren’t good, but it had special meaning since that was Cody’s first concert, and Steve his Uncle Steve took him.
The Hitchin’ Post is a great neighborhood bar known for good karaoke. Keep your eyes peeled for more contests and promotions from these guys coming soon!
