Thunderbird Anniversary
By Ty Hughes
The infamous Thunderbird Trading Post and Lounge in Tacoma celebrated their 22nd year in business on Sunday, August 19th, 2012.
The theme was Country Western this year, but there were no outdoor activities like last year, due to the heat, according to Esther, Bar Manager.
Karaoke Host Lonnie “Lonman” Boyer hosted a lively group of karaoke singers all day long, eventually passing the baton to Alisa, and then to Lisa, who kept the bar singing into the morning hours. Karaoke at the Thunderbird is an experience like none other. They’ve created an on-stage ambiance that singers can appreciate, not to mention a sound system that rocks the place to the core.
The karaoke room was packed all day, with people coming and going. Thunderbird’s large, and dedicated dart room was ultra-busy with dart players going head to head in a Blind Burlap tournament run by Phil and Etienna.
Management and staff worked hard to make it a positive experience for everyone who made the trip out. Food and drink specials provided a little wallet relief and lot of happy tummies.
Lonman and the others raffled off some cool prizes throughout the day to an active and involed crowd.
Even though the theme was Country, we heard a lot of Rock and Roll karaoke. JT and Andrew sang a few Scorpions songs, something out of the ordinary. Sheryl, Melissa, and Diane joined serenaded a packed karaoke room with a few sing-alongs of their own.
Visit the Thunderbird seven nights a week for top-notch, and professional karaoke with amazing sound and stage. Not to mention, good friends and happy people. You can still smoke here too!
