Tiger B. elevates your experience at Bamboo
By Ty Hughes
One word: Tiger B! Okay, two. This guy is a one-man show that just happens to star the entire audience, every Thursday night at the Bamboo Bar & Grill on Alki Beach.
Confused? See one show marked by matted rocker wigs, twisted masks, busted teeth and you’ll be more confused than ever. It would’ve been quite an experience to be a fly on the wall of this kid’s room growing up. Surely there were some very animated sessions in front of the full-length mirror. Tiger B. comes from a whole family of performers in fact. His sister Brenda sings lead vocals for the very popular tribute band Heartless, and his brother Dave is an accomplished drummer in his own rite.
Keep your eyes on Tiger’s beautiful 15-year old daughter Adria for any signs of showbiz talent, because it definitely runs in the family.
Adria hung around outside the bar where her dad’s voice and those singing karaoke was pumped out to the Alki boardwalk with patio speakers. Having to cut their father/daughter Mariners-game experience short in order to start the karaoke show, they were able to catch the rest of the 13-inning game vs. Boston on the TVs in the bar. M’s lost, by the way.
The beautiful Bamboo Bar & Grill features big buckets of beers, (5) Sessions for just $10 or (5) Cornonas for $20. These buckets of beers are a big hit at the Bamboo. The long, skinny tropical bar fills quickly to capacity with happy-go-lucky partiers sharing buckets of beer each week for Tiger’s karaoke show.
Singers included Lenny, Ruthie and Alvin to name just a few. Erica, who chose a Billy Joel favorite of mine, Vienna, sang with a little help from Tiger and his endless bag of props. Wayne jumped up with a cool Black Sabbath number, and then Tiger stretched his limits by serenading the audience with Michael Buble’s Cry Me A River.
Curtis helped out at the sound board, giving Tiger the freedom to roam the room a bit and “touch” his guests. It was a warm summer night, and the beautiful crowd was in a summer frame of mind. If you’re not familiar, there is no place better than Alki Beach on a warm summer night.
Dana and the new guy held down the bar. Dana’s gorgeous, the people of Bamboo are all gorgeous, and Tiger’s got a new hairdo to show off. At one point, Curtis throws up a video of Tiger in the mid-nineties with hair down to there, starring in his own sexy music video spoof of some song – total crack up! The things people do. You’ve gotta ask Tiger about that whole thing… and report back please.
Come out to the Bamboo Bar & Grill at 2806 Alki Ave SW, Seattle (206) 927-3023, and enjoy a fantastic karaoke experience with host Tiger B. every Thursday night! Sundays are Reggae nights at the Bamboo with DJ Al-B-Dat. Slide up to the bar and order a Bamboozled tropical drink; Absolute Mandarin Vodka, Malibu Coconut Rum, Bacardi 151, with pineapple and cranberry juices – YUM!
They also have an awesome $5 Happy Hour Menu with Steak and Chicken Skewers, Quesadillas, Nachos, Wings, Egg Rolls, Calamari, and Cheese Sticks. The Bamboo’s got it going on and all they’re missing is you! And don’t forget your sandals!
