Welcome Larry and Shawnna new hosts at Lakewood Pub

By Ty Hughes

We’ve all heard people say, “Change is the only thing that stays the same.” And while we may never quite fully understand them, these changes are the fuel that keeps our world rotating properly and systematically on it’s very axis.

Just as the rose fades on the stem, so will Lakewood Pub & Grill’s now ex-karaoke host. Rose has chosen a new path in life and we certainly wish her the best of everything. Single-handedly she built the Lakewood Pub & Grill into the karaoke heavyweight it is today. And as she adjusts her rearview with the Lakewood squarely in view, the baton is passed on to a very capable duo of karaoke hosts anxious to fill her shoes and more.

Larry and Shawnna look forward to establishing a new karaoke regime at the Lakewood on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

Larry has been hosting at the Haven on Saturday nights and takes over at the Lakewood on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 1. He seems like the friendly type, and just might capture the hearts of local karaoke fanatics. His laid-back attitude is calming and easy to appreciate after a long day at the office.

Course Shawnna is new to hosting, but she’s no stranger to karaoke by any means. She promises to bring her beautiful legs and winning smile to work every Friday and Saturday at the Lakewood from 9 to 1. Shawnna can definitely hold her own at the controls, she’s gonna be just fine. The question is, will the boys survive her?

On August 8, 2011, Larry and Shawnna teamed up to host the Lakewood Pub & Grill’s big in-house Evergreen Idol Finale. For jumping in late, they were both very pleasant, even when Larry couldn’t get the system to cooperate for a bit.

Eleven singers had been qualified to compete, but only five made it back for the finals event. Annette is a local favorite, with an ear for Evanescence. You will too when you hear her incredible voice.

Z-man with his smooth ways on the microphone was out en force that night, singing Josh Groban’s Broken Vow to an awestruck crowd. So much emotion on the mic tonight – what an amazing start!

Sabrina got up to several cheers and busted out with Carrie Underwood’s Last Name, and Keli performed Heart’s Alone, before  Mike did Tim McGraw’s Live Like You Were Dying. Everybody really did a great job that night. Only two would move on to the finals on the fair stage in Monroe representing the Lakewood Pub & Grill. For 2011, they would send Keli and… Annette! Oh man! Wow! Amazing!

Keli and Annette are Evergreen State Fair-bound baby! Good luck girls!

Pop in and check out the Lakewood’s comfortable, wide-open concept.

Have a glass of wine and a pizza. Bring your buddies and sing some killer karaoke! You’ll become a big fan like those that have gone before you.

Lakewood Pub & Grill; 7505 Steilacoom Blvd., Lakewood, WA (253) 582-9195.
